Various things I created throughout my four years at Parsons. Some of these have links where you can view more info if you click on the image.
Human Occupancy
'Human Occupancy' project for drawing class.
I first started by editing a picture I took of two girls having a picnic by a lake in Central Park. At first, I was experimenting to see what I could do with this image, which involved enhancing the feeling of nature, and the enjoyment of having a picnic by the lake. I did this by getting rid of the bushes and the ground in the original image, and replace it with the entire lake. Then I superimposed a boat onto the image, and placed the girls in it.
Then, I decided to expand further and put trash all over the surface of the lake (which consisted of plastic bags, bottles, etc.), including a trash heap in the background on the right side of the horizon. I was inspired by the increasing environmental awareness that seems to be happening these days, and also the fact that littering, particularly in rivers and beaches, are a huge issue back home in Indonesia. So in my final image, the beautiful scenery is contrasted by the trash in the lake.
